Quick answer: the Toyota Hilux Revo and Fortuner 2.8 (1GD-FTV, 2016 onwards) take about 7.5 litres of 5W-30 or 10W-30 oil rated for diesel (API CK-4 or ACEA C2/C3), with a filter change. The older Hilux Vigo and Fortuner 3.0 (1KD-FTV, 2005 to 2016) take about 7 litres of 15W-40 API CI-4 or CK-4. Change every 7,500 km, or 5,000 if the truck works. Do not use a petrol-only oil; the diesel additive package is what keeps the soot in suspension.

| Revo, Fortuner 2.4 (2016 to 2024) | 2GD-FTV | 5W-30 or 10W-30, API CK-4 / ACEA C3 | 6.5 L |

What we’d put in it
- Revo and Fortuner 2.8: Shell Rimula R4 X 15W-40 at Rs 5,999 per 4L if the manual allows 15W-40 for your market, otherwise a 5W-30 or 10W-30 with a diesel rating; ask us for current stock, as the thin diesel grades arrive in small batches.
- Vigo and older Fortuner: Shell Rimula R4 X 15W-40, Rs 5,999, Total Rubia TIR 7400 15W-40, Rs 5,599, PSO DEO 8000 15W-40, Rs 4,799, or Kixx HD1 15W-40 CI-4. Two 4L packs per change.
- AdBlue: the Revo and Fortuner 2.8 with the urea tank take Toyota AdBlue 10L, Rs 12,999, roughly every 10,000 km.
Filter: the Toyota Vigo oil filter is on our shelf for the 1KD; the Revo cartridge filter we can source in 2 days. Air filter for Revo and Fortuner 2018 to 2025 is on the air filter page.
Don’t: put a petrol-car 5W-30 in a diesel Revo because the grade matches. The API rating on the back has to start with C (CK-4, CJ-4, CI-4), not S.
