Quick answer: the Toyota Yaris sold in Pakistan (2020 onwards, 1.3 2NR-FE and 1.5 2NR-FE) takes 0W-20, API SN or SP, about 3.4 litres for the 1.3 and 3.7 litres for the 1.5 with a filter change. 5W-30 fully synthetic is accepted on a car past 60,000 km. Change every 5,000 km in Lahore. The CVT version takes Toyota CVT Fluid FE every 40,000 km.

- Genuine: Toyota Genuine 0W-20 SP/GF-6A 4L, Made in Japan, Rs 14,999. The factory fill, and the right choice under warranty.
- Same spec, less money: GP 0W-20 fully synthetic 3L, Rs 6,399, plus a small top-up for the 1.5. API SP. Or TOTACHI Eco Ultra 0W-20 4L, Rs 12,399, Japanese-formulated to the same GF-6A spec.
- 5W-30 alternative: Mobil Super Friction Fighter 5W-30 4L, Rs 8,499, or GP 5W-30 4L, Rs 7,799.
Filter: the Toyota filter for Yaris is the same part as the current Corolla 1.3, on our filter shelf. Air filter every 10,000 km.
Don’t: use 10W-40 or 20W-50. The 2NR-FE has Dual VVT-i and thin oil passages; thick oil causes a cold-start rattle and a check-engine light within weeks.
