A 4-litre oil change in Lahore costs anywhere between Rs 4,500 and Rs 15,000 depending on where you stop the car. Same Alto. Same 3 litres. The difference is rarely the oil.
We’ve done oil changes on Ferozepur Road since 1999. Here’s the price sheet we wish every customer had before they pulled into a workshop.
Quick answer: A fair oil change in Lahore in 2026 is the pack price plus a filter, and nothing else. For an Alto or Cultus: Shell Helix HX7 5W-30 3L at Rs 6,499 plus a Rs 220 Suzuki filter. What does an oil change actually cost in Lahore right now?
Strip the bill down and there are only three lines that should exist: the oil, the filter, and (if you ask for it) an air filter. Here’s what those lines cost at our counter this month.

Why did the workshop bill come to Rs 12,000 for an Alto?
We see these bills every week. Customers bring them in, half embarrassed, half angry. The oil is usually fine. The bill is built around it.
Six things that keep showing up:
1. “Service charges” of Rs 1,500–3,000. Draining oil and spinning a filter is a 15-minute job. We don’t charge for it. Neither should anyone else if you’re buying the oil from them.
2. Engine flush you didn’t ask for. Rs 1,200–2,500 for a bottle poured in and drained five minutes later. A car that’s had oil changed on time has nothing to flush.
3. Two extra litres. An Alto 660 takes about 2.7 litres with a filter. If the bill says 4 litres went in, 1.3 litres went somewhere else.
4. The Rs 900 oil filter. A Suzuki or Honda filter is Rs 220 on our shelf. A Vigo filter is Rs 250–350. Anything above Rs 500 for a standard car is margin, not quality.
5. “Aap ki gaari mein 20W-50 chahiye.” On a 2019 Alto with an AGS gearbox, that sentence should end the conversation. We covered why in this video:
6. The half-used pack. You paid for 4 litres. Your car took 3.2. Ask for the remaining oil in the bottle. Every time. It’s yours.
WARNING: Never accept oil poured from an open drum or an unsealed bottle, no matter how good the price. In 27 years we’ve never seen a genuine 4L pack that arrived without a seal and a batch code.
What happened when Bilal sahab came in with a Rs 11,400 bill
14 August 2026, around 5 pm. Bilal sahab, Cultus 2019, 61,000 km. He’d had an oil change at a workshop near Kalma Chowk two weeks earlier. Bill: Rs 11,400. The car felt heavy, he said, “jaise brake lagi hui hai.”
We pulled the dipstick. Thick, dark, and clearly 20W-50 in a car that leaves the factory on 5W-30. The bill had “flush” and “premium filter” on it too.
Redo: Shell Helix HX7 5W-30 3L, Rs 6,499. Suzuki filter, Rs 220. Labour, nothing. Rs 6,719. He drove off and messaged three days later: “pickup wapas aa gayi.“
He’d overpaid by Rs 4,681 and got the wrong oil for it. That’s the Lahore oil change problem in one receipt.
Is a home oil change in Lahore worth it?
You’re probably thinking a doorstep service must cost more. Ours doesn’t. Same pack price, same filter price, our man comes to your gate anywhere in Lahore, brings the drain pan, and takes the old oil away.
Why is labour free? Because the used oil has a resale value and the oil pack has a margin. That’s enough for us. We explained the maths here:
One thing we personally won’t do at a doorstep job: pour oil without showing you the seal first. If you’re not at the car when the seal breaks, we wait.
How often should you change oil in Lahore traffic?
The number on the bottle assumes highway driving in Europe. Lahore isn’t that.
DID YOU KNOW: In stop-start traffic on Ferozepur Road, a car covers 5,000 km in roughly 250 engine hours. On the motorway, the same 5,000 km takes about 60 hours. Oil ages by hours and heat, not just kilometres.
Our working rule for Lahore cars:
Mineral 20W-50: every 3,000–3,500 km. Semi-synthetic 10W-40: every 5,000 km. Fully synthetic 5W-30 / 0W-20: every 7,000–8,000 km in the city, up to 10,000 km if half your driving is motorway. Filter every single time, no exceptions. It’s Rs 220.
Bikes are different. CD70 and CG125 on a Kixx 4T or Atlas Honda 20W-50: every 1,000–1,200 km, or monthly if you ride daily.
Bottom line
- A fair oil change in Lahore = pack price + Rs 220–350 filter. Labour should be free when you buy the oil there.
- The most common overcharges are “service charges”, flush, and extra litres. Check the capacity of your own car before you pay.
- Right grade matters more than brand. 5W-30 for a 2017+ Suzuki, 10W-40 or 5W-30 for a City or Corolla, 20W-50 only for older engines and bikes.

How much is an oil change in Lahore for a Suzuki Alto?
Rs 5,819 to Rs 6,719 including the filter. That is Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 3L at Rs 5,599 or Shell Helix HX7 5W-30 3L at Rs 6,499, plus a Rs 220 Suzuki filter, with no labour charge.
Anything above Rs 8,000 for an Alto means you are paying for labour, a flush you did not need, or oil that never went into the car.
How often should I change engine oil in Pakistan?
By oil type, not by a fixed number. Mineral 20W-50: every 3,000 to 3,500 km. Semi-synthetic 10W-40: every 5,000 km. Fully synthetic 5W-30 or 0W-20: every 7,000 to 8,000 km in city traffic, up to 10,000 km if most of your driving is motorway.
Lahore traffic is harder on oil than the bottle assumes. The same 5,000 km takes about 250 engine hours here and about 60 hours on the motorway, and oil ages by hours and heat as much as by distance.
How do I check my engine oil?
Park level with the engine off. Pull the dipstick, wipe it clean with a cloth, push it fully back in, then pull it out again and read it. The oil film should sit between the two marks, closer to the top one.
Colour tells you as much as level. Fresh oil is amber. Dark brown is normal after a few thousand kilometres. Gritty, or milky like tea with milk, means stop driving and get it looked at.
Should I check engine oil when the engine is hot or cold?
Cold, or at least 10 minutes after switching off. Oil needs time to drain back into the sump, and checking straight after a drive gives a false low reading.
First thing in the morning, before you start the car, is the most accurate moment.
How long does an oil change take?
Fifteen to twenty minutes for a car, filter included. A doorstep change at your gate in Lahore takes about the same, plus a few minutes to set up the drain pan.
If a workshop keeps your car for two hours for an oil change, they are doing something else with it.
Do I need to change the oil filter every time?
Yes. A filter holds roughly 200 ml of dirty oil, and its paper element clogs long before the second oil change is due.
At Rs 220 for a Suzuki or Honda filter it is the cheapest part of the job. Skipping it pushes old contaminated oil straight back into fresh oil.
Is a Doorstep oil change across Lahore (slot confirmed on WhatsApp) genuinely free?
